A celebration of land, sea and sky in Scotland and beyond…

Jean’s Singing the Land series describes the way she goes about painting the landscape. It has similarities to indigenous Australian creation myth, in which the land is sung into existence. At the time of holding the exhibition, the idea of ‘singing’ natural beauty and open space into consciousness through painting had special relevance. As a result of the Covid-19 lockdown of 2020, our personal spaces contracted, bringing the need to rely on and re-imagine our memories of a wider, wonderful world.
